Counseling & Community Assistance
Mrs. Smith is available for personal counseling as well as
help with grades, classes, applying for colleges, and other needs.
Students with problems that need intensive counseling may be referred to outside
agencies/therapists. Below is a list of some area agencies that provide

Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Treatment for
adolescents of ages 12 - 17. For teens experiencing acute depression,
behavioral problems, anxiety, adjustment issues, or self-destructive
tendencies.
They also have general counseling services available

medication management, as well as the intensive outpatient services.

2-1-1 Assistance
Anyone in Shiawassee County can dial 2-1-1 and receive
cost free information on a broad range of non-profit, government, and faith
community services. In times of community disasters, persons will be
instructed to dial 2-1-1 for information regarding such things as evacuation
routes, shelter locations, clean water stations, etc. 2-1-1 operators
are federally-certified and have undergone extensive training and testing
before taking calls from the public.

Your call or internet search are free of charge to you.
Examples of assistance available: hours and
locations of local food pantries, counseling and support group information,

Bereavement Services
Adult Grief Support Group--An adult grief
support group is provided by Memorial Healthcare Hospice. This group is for
anyone over 18 years old who has experienced the death of a loved one.
The group meets the second Tuesday of each month from 6 - 7:00 pm at 1975 W.

Children's Grief Recovery Group--Memorial Hospice
holds a Children's Bereavement group. This group is for children ages
3 - 17 who have experienced the death of a loved one. The group meets
the second Tuesday of each month from 6 - 7:00 pm at 1975 W. M-21, Owosso.
Call Tom Kalina, MSW at the numbers above. Pre-registration is
required.
Hospice Library--There are many books and
videos on death, dying, hospice, spiritual fulfillment, etc. The
Hospice library is located in the Home Health/Hospice Office at 1975 W.
M-21, Ste 102,
